DeAndre Yedlin Suffers Scary-Looking Leg Injury; Opponent Doesn’t Even Get A Yellow

DeAndre Yedlin might be second-guessing his decision to play in Turkey right about now. The American fullback has had a rollercoaster start to time at Galatasaray and it took a dip with a gruesome-looking Yedlin injury against Fatih Karagümrük on Saturday.

Yedlin, in his first game back from red-card suspension after he scored and was sent off against Caykur Rizespor on March 19, started at right back for the Turkish Super Lig’s third-place side on Saturday. But he didn’t last 30 minutes after suffering a distressing foul from Jermaine Lens. The Dutch winger’s follow-through saw his cleats land right on Yedlin’s ankle to ghastly effect.

Ouch.

Yedlin tried to continue before being replaced in the 28th minute. Somehow, Lens wasn’t even booked for the incident.

While the USMNT might have its best crop of fullbacks it’s had in decades, Yedlin could still be a key member of Gregg Berhalter’s busy summer schedule. Let’s hope this Yedlin injury isn’t as bad as it looks.

Though Lens wasn’t booked, the match ended with 20 men on the pitch as both sides had a player sent off. Galatasaray was held to a 1-1 draw, with Ryan Babel scoring an equalizer in the 62nd minute.
