Jurgen Klopp Makes His Liverpool Debut Against Spurs And The Rest Of The Weekend On TV

The weekend TV schedule in store for soccer fans this weekend is full of intrigue in the Premier League and Serie A.

Liverpool’s 22nd manager, Jurgen Klopp, will make his debut for the Reds Saturday against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in North London. Klopp was announced as the manager on October 8th after the team released Brendan Rodgers on October 4th. Rodgers was shown the door after his team could only manage a tie against Everton in the Merseyside derby. The Reds have only one win in their last six league matches. The recent skid coupled with three seasons without any trophies forced the club’s hand.

Klopp inherits an injury-riddled squad that suffered further setbacks during the international break as both striker Danny Ings and defender Joe Gomez suffered severe knee injuries. Also out for the weekend are Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson with hopes that Philippe Coutinho can play after suffering a knock. The Reds’ attack will rely on Daniel Sturridge up front with support from James Milner and Adam Lallana in the midfield.

Tottenham look to maintain an undefeated streak that stretches back to the first league game. The Spurs hope that Harry Kane breaks out of his season long funk which has seen him only score one goal for his team (while also scoring one goal against his team). Kane will look for service from Christian Eriksen. All of the action from White Hart Lane can be seen on NBCSN at 7:45 a.m. EDT. Other key matches in England for this weekend TV schedule include: Chelsea (without a suspend Jose Mourinho) welcome Aston Villa and American keeper Brad Guzan to Stamford Bridge on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. EDT on USA Network; League leaders, Manchester United travel to Goodison Park to face Everton and Tim Howard at 10:00 a.m. EDT on NBCSN; and red hot Alexis Sanchez and Arsenal face Watford at 12:30 p.m. EDT on NBC.
