The Legends World Cup Is Coming To Mexico

Some of us are young, and this is a good thing for us. Being young is awesome, but one of the downsides of being young is we just missed out on watching some of the best footballers of all time. And that's sad. That's why we're excited about the Legends World Cup, coming to Mexico in 2017.

The Legends World Cup will allow us to se some of the great footballers we missed playing against other great footballers we missed, albeit at a much lower fitness/athleticism level.

The Legends World Cup will feature 12 teams: The USA, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, South Africa, Spain, France, England Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. Among these teams are some of the best to ever play.

Legends World Cup Details

The games will be 60 minutes with unlimited subs, so the old guys don't collapse on the field or anything. The games will be held in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey. Among the expected competitors are legendary former French midfielder Zinedine Zidane and former German midfielder Michael Ballack.

Unfortunately Diego Maradona has been deemed "too old" for the Legends World Cup. Maybe he can coach, though.

Seriously, though, this is a great idea and we hope it can continue in perpetuity. Who doesn't want to watch some of the all-time greats kick a ball around and maybe do something cool, and it's a good way to include great players in the game and bring some forgotten greats back into prominence.

We don't know who else will partake in the competition (it is, after all, two years away) but we have our list of players who we think would be fun to watch, like Dennis Bergkamp (Holland), Thierry Henry (France), Carles Puyol (Spain), Ronaldo (Brazil), Rivaldo (Brazil) and Miroslav Klose (Germany). Who's on your list?
