It's interesting: Arsene Wenger at Arsenal has stood for longevity, consistency and devotion to an ideal. Marriage also stands for those things. I guess if the wife walks out in 20 years because the husband didn't buy expensive enough things (or vice versa), the metaphor will be complete.
