Donald Trump's 'Great Wall' Speech Is An Excellent Ad For The Copa America

“Our country is in serious trouble. We’re having people coming in through the border that are not people that we want,” says Donald Trump in an audio clip from the Republican presidential candidate that’s being used to promote this summer’s Copa America Centenario.

The images and text that go with the audio make the speech, for the first time, seem reasonable. Marcos Rojo, Pablo Zabaleta, Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano are seen disembarking from a plane, presumably landing on American soil for this summer’s tournament. The United States is indeed in serious trouble.

We’ll be lucky to escape from Group A, an extremely talented group with opposition including Colombia, Costa Rica and Paraguay. Mr. Trump, is it too late to get that wall built?

In a wonderfully brilliant TV spot from Argentine sports channel TyC Sports, Chicago, Seattle, Houston and Los Angeles are put on alert as to the “killers” that are heading their way: Sergio Aguero, Angel di Maria, Gonzalo Higuain and, of course, “the not nice, sweet little person that you’d think”, Messi.

The final message from the sports channel reads, “In truth, the best that they can do is not let us in.” This, unfortunately, is certainly not far from the truth. The earliest the US could possibly face Argentina would be in the semi-finals of the tournament, a matchup that no one is expecting considering the teams involved in this tournament.

While the US will be relying heavily on the efforts of players like Tim Howard, Geoff Cameron and John Brooks to lead the defense, Trump’s calls for heightened security will likely only grow after watching Messi, Luis Suarez and James Rodriguez lead attacks on American soil.

If we want to "Make America Great Again", Jurgen Klinsmann and his squad are going to need to batten down the hatches. In all seriousness, we can't wait for you all to get here.
