American Defender DeAndre Yedlin Will Grow In England

When DeAndre Yedlin was transferred to Tottenham Hotspur in 2014, it was music to Jurgen Klinsmann’s ears as he finally began to see more American national players move to Europe. As the MLS continues to grow and develop into an elite league, it becomes very important for players on Klinsmann’s current roster to play big European matches.

However, after Yedlin arrived in London, his playtime was limited and Pochettino preferred Eric Dier and Kyle Walker in the right-back position. He joined the team during the January transfer window and made one twelve minute appearance since arriving for the senior team.

Despite failing to make regular appearances for Tottenham, DeAndre Yedlin is not giving up hope and is looking to accept another loan offer from a second-tier English Championship team.

“It will be good because hopefully I’ll be at the same level as everyone else when we all come back rather than coming in midway through the campaign as I did last year”, Yedlin explained.

Bolton Wanderers and Derby County have expressed interest in signing the American defender while he continues to grow. At 21 years old, Yedlin has racked up invaluable experience that he can take back to the States when called up to the national team.
