Liverpool had a comfortable 90 minutes at Wembley Stadium on Saturday in the FA Cup semifinal vs. Manchester City. The final four minutes of stoppage time weren’t so comfortable as a late City push made for an exciting 3-2 finale victory for Liverpool.

American goalkeeper Zack Steffen can be given a lot of credit for making Liverpool’s afternoon so easy. Steffen had a disastrous first half that saw him concede three goals including an all-time blunder.

Concussions are a big topic in American sports with strict protocols in place to avoid athletes suffering severe head injuries. Hell, America has an entire movie literally called “Concussion.” FIFA and UEFA don’t appear to be on the same wavelength as head injuries aren’t taken too seriously. Harry Kane was at his magnificent, glorious best on Saturday as he scored a brace to hand Manchester City its first Premier League loss since Oct. 2021. There aren’t enough adjectives in the dictionary to describe how entertaining Tottenham’s victory at Etihad Stadium was.

In the span of three minutes Manchester City’s players went from thinking they had scored a game-tying penalty kick in the 92nd minute to picking the ball out of their own net after Kane did what he does best.

Weston McKennie has now scored two headed goals in the span of three days for Juventus. The American netted a goal in the Supercoppa Italiana on Wednesday and was once again a menace in the air on Saturday against Udinese. The McKennie goal vs Udinese provided Juventus with some breathing space as the Italian giants won 2-0.

New York City FC lifted MLS Cup for the first time in the club’s six-year history on Saturday after tying Portland 1-1 and defeating the Timbers 4-2 on penalty kicks. The Timbers were heavy favorites heading into the final, but the traveling NYCFC supporters pulled out their secret weapon: the timbs.

One of the biggest talking points of the game was the horrific blown call in the final seconds during the build-up of Portland’s equalizer. NYCFC was seconds from lifting its first title when Larrys Mabiala clearly fouled Maxime Chanot. Felipe Mora then put home the equalizer.

American defender Chris Richards scored the first Bundesliga goal of his career on Saturday against SC Freiburg in a crucial 2-1 victory. With the score tied at 1-1, Hoffenheim had a corner kick with 15 seconds left in the game. The ball was whipped into the box, and it would be the 21-year-old Alabama native who got his head on the ball.
