Chelsea defeat Bournemouth 3-1 to secure first win after 56 very long days

BOURNEMOUTH — Chelsea claimed their first win under interim manager Frank Lampard with a 3-1 victory at Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday to snap a nine-match winless run in all competitions.

Late goals from Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix helped Chelsea move up to 11th with 42 points while Bournemouth slipped to 14th, three points behind the London side having played a game more.

It was a welcome win for Lampard who had lost his first five games in charge during his second stint while it was also Chelsea's first win since early March.

Your guide to understanding and enjoying the Premier League Relegation Battle Royale

Premier League relegation is a simple concept: Your team was not good enough this season so they, and two other teams, have to drop down to the tier below (the Championship) and will play their games there next season. Conversely, the Championship will promote three teams to the Premier League to take their places (let’s not get into the playoffs). This toing and froing happens all the way down the league structure.

Liverpool lose to Bournemouth a week after beating Manchester United 7-0

BOURNEMOUTH — Liverpool's Mohamed Salah missed a second-half penalty as his side fell to a 1-0 defeat away at Bournemouth, with Philip Billing's goal lifting the south-coast side off the bottom of the Premier League table and out of the relegation zone.

The win in the first league game of the weekend sees the Cherries rise from last spot to 16th in the table on 24 points, while Liverpool languish in fifth on 42 points after wasting a chance to close the three-point gap to fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Bournemouth score second-fastest goal in EPL history but Arsenal get last laugh with 97th minute winner

Bournemouth stunned the fans inside Emirates Stadium on Saturday with a goal straight from kickoff to take a 1-0 lead. Philip Billing scored just nine seconds into the game for the second-fastest goal in league history.

Arsenal would rally from 2-0 down in the second half and grab all three points with a 97th minute Reiss Nelson goal to win 3-2. What a game.

First, let’s look at how the game started.

Christian Pulisic robbed of penalty kick and goal in solid 80-minute cameo for Chelsea

Christian Pulisic was cooking for Chelsea on Tuesday after being given a rare start during the Blues’ 2-0 Premier League victory against Bournemouth. After several quality performances at the World Cup, Chelsea boss Graham Potter rewarded Pulisic with a start at his preferred left wing position.

Pulisic was involved in all the USA’s goals at the World Cup scoring one and assisting the other two.

He continued his fine form against Bournemouth and had two controversial moments in the first half go against him.

Crysensio Summerville's late winner gives Leeds 4-3 comeback win over Bournemouth

Saturday’s stunning early action between Leeds and Bournemouth at Elland Road saw the home crowd’s halftime boos turn to bliss in the second half as Jesse Marsch’s side snatched a 4-3 win from the jaws of defeat.
