Atlanta a likely host for 2031 Women’s World Cup hints FIFA president Gianni Infantino

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has hinted at Atlanta's potential as a host for the 2031 Women's World Cup as he brought the Club World Cup trophy to the city's Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday night.

Standing alongside Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Infantino praised the city's sporting credentials ahead of this summer's expanded Club World Cup tournament. "Atlanta has really become a soccer city," Infantino said.

CONMEBOL officially proposed hosting the 2030 World Cup with 64 teams, allowing more countries the opportunity to join in the celebrations for the tournament's centennial, the South American soccer governing body said on Thursday.

The 2030 World Cup will be hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, with its opening matches taking place in Uruguay, where the first World Cup was held in 1930, as well as in Argentina and Paraguay.
