Mexican phenom Gilberto Mora added another highlight reel to his illustrious summer on Friday with a brilliant display of skill against FC Juárez. The 16-year-old beat a defender with ease before forcing an own goal with a cross.
In the 52nd minute Mora helped give Tijuana the lead with a clever move to beat a defender and fire in a dangerous cross into the box. The pass was on track to connect with striker Shamar Nicholson, however a Juárez defender poked the ball into his own net.

That goal won’t show up on the stats sheet for the Mexican teenager, but it’s yet another shining moment in what has been an amazing summer for Mora.
Mora has been breaking records left and right this summer as he won the Gold Cup with Mexico and starred for the Liga MX All-Stars against the MLS All-Stars. The records Mora has set include:
- Youngest player to debut for Mexico
- Youngest player to start and win a major international tournament (surpassing Pelé and Lamine Yamal)
- Youngest player to score in an MLS All-Star Game
