Uruguay coach Marcelo Bielsa on Friday defended his players involved in a clash with Colombian fans after Wednesday's Copa America semi-final, saying "anyone would have reacted like that" to protect their families.

After Colombia sealed a 1-0 victory in Charlotte, North Carolina, Uruguay players climbed into the stands, apparently exchanging blows with opposition fans.

The CONMEBOL statement in response to the shocking fight from Wednesday that saw Uruguay players clashing with Colombian fans in the stands was… lackluster.

The semifinal was another classic CONMEBOL clash that saw 24 fouls, six yellow cards and a red card. After the game tensions were high with the Colombians celebrating and Uruguay players and staff getting physical.

FRANKFURT — German police are investigating a video appearing to show stadium personnel viciously beating a fan during the Portugal vs Slovenia Euro 2024 match.

The video, which Reuters has not been able to verify, shows a man in a steward's top repeatedly hitting someone in the face as colleagues restrain him in a Frankfurt Arena gangway. Two others kick and beat the man further when he falls to the floor.

The awful camera angles from the broadcast were an omen of things to come. Were we looking at Arrowhead Stadium or an ant hill? We couldn’t tell.

The U.S men’s national team could have a better chance of beating Uruguay on Monday than most people believe… at least that’s what sports books say.

The USMNT will go into the last match day of the 2024 Copa América looking to get a huge win against none other than Uruguay — one of the tournament’s top contenders and best in-form national teams so far in the group stage.

The U.S. soccer federation condemned the online racist abuse of their players on Thursday after their 2-1 defeat by Panama at the Copa America.

"There is absolutely no place in the game for such hateful and discriminatory behaviour," U.S. Soccer said in a statement.

"These actions are not only unacceptable but also contrary to the values of respect and inclusivity that we uphold as an organization."
