We haven't reached the group stage but Dries Mertens just scored UCL Goal of the Year

Scoring with a volley from the top of the box straight off a corner kick is one of the game's most audacious tactics. It's pure poetry when it comes off (David Beckham to Paul Scholes, anyone?), but its execution requires pinpoint service and the perfect finish. The margin for error is minuscule, and if either the corner or volley isn't flawless, then you're simply hoping the shot flies into Row Z and you're not getting torn apart on a counter going the other way.

Italian goalkeeper and legend Gianluigi Buffon announces he's hanging up the gloves

Horrible news, I agree with Alexi Lalas: The USWNT owe Americans 90 minutes of sleep

As a regular U.S. soccer fan, it’s typically my duty to disagree with polarizing FOX pundit Alexi Lalas. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case this Tuesday morning as the USWNT pathetically got a 0-0 draw vs. Portugal to finish second in Group E and advance to the Round of 16 of the Women’s World Cup.

There isn’t much to discuss about the USWNT’s draw. They were slapdash on the attack and lucky not to concede on defense. Portugal were inches away from sending the USWNT home but rattled the post late in the game.

The clubs did not disclose the transfer fee for the 26-year-old, who joined Newcastle from Ligue 1 side Nice in 2019.

Saint-Maximin, 26, will team up with former Premier League players Roberto Firmino, Édouard Mendy and Riyad Mahrez at Al-Ahli.

It was an emphatic finish from the Texan as he swept a right-footed effort inside the far post.

Watch: Aaronson brothers score for their Bundesliga clubs in tune-up games

It’s that wonderful time of year when clubs are playing preseason games against obscure teams on channels you never knew existed. Tracking down the highlights isn't always easy, but we have the clips of USMNT players scoring goals on Saturday.

Paxten and Brenden Aaronson both scored for their teams with the younger brother netting four goals.

Eintracht Frankfurt faced FSV Braunfels who play in the sixth tier of Germany. The final score was quite lopsided with Frankfurt winning 15-1.

19-year-old U.S. phenom Paxten Aaronson had a field day. Here were his goals.
