In a spectacle both on and off the pitch, U.S. President Donald Trump made an interesting appearance at the Club World Cup final held at MetLife Stadium, where Chelsea cruised to a convincing 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Cole Palmer rang up two goals and one assist in a sensational first half and Chelsea toppled Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 to win the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday.

Palmer scored in the 22nd and 30th minutes and Joao Pedro tacked on the third goal right before halftime, capitalizing on Palmer's fine touch into the box. Robert Sanchez, meanwhile, saved six shots in his best showing of the tournament.

Crystal Palace DROPPED from Europa League due to multi-club ownership with Lyon

Premier League side Crystal Palace have been dropped in European competition to the third-tier Conference League in a multi-club ownership case, while Olympique Lyonnais will be allowed to play in the Europa League, UEFA said on Friday.

Palace had qualified for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup last season, while Lyon reached the competition by finishing sixth in Ligue 1.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca remains one of the Club World Cup's harshest critics, despite his team reaching the semi-finals, and continued a stream of complaints about everything from the weather to the scheduling ahead of Tuesday's clash with Fluminense.

The Italian has repeatedly complained about the heat, the calendar and the toll on his players' fitness at the tournament, while also criticising FIFA for the weather delay that interrupted his team's round-of-16 clash against Benfica for nearly two hours.

Liverpool star Diogo Jota and brother killed in car accident

MADRID — Liverpool's Portuguese forward Diogo Jota and his brother died in a car crash in northwestern Spain early on Thursday, when their Lamborghini veered off the road and burst into flames.

Evidence at the crash site suggested Jota's car suffered a burst tire while overtaking, police said. The vehicle then flipped over and ended up in the central reservation. The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. in the province of Zamora.

Manchester City nearly doubled their 1-0 lead in the 24th minute, however Bounou came up with a mind boggling save to deny Savinho.

The Moroccan goalkeeper appeared defeated on his back, but then extended his left arm toward goal to make an unbelievable stop.

Players and managers will be interviewed live during halftime of matches, a first for a FIFA-sanctioned tournament.

Real Madrid sign Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold early, he will compete in Club World Cup

Real Madrid have signed Trent Alexander-Arnold on a six-year deal, the LaLiga club said on Friday, paying Liverpool a fee to release the England defender from his contract a month early to allow him to join before the Club World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold, who joined Liverpool when he was six and made 354 appearances for the Premier League side since his senior debut in 2016, said earlier this month he would leave the club once his contract expired on June 30.

Ugly scenes took place in Wroclaw, Poland, on Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon as Chelsea and Real Betis supporters clashed in the streets ahead of the Europa Conference League final.

Fans were filmed throwing chairs and beer bottles at one another as riot police were forced to intervene to stop the skirmishes. 

These are not the kind of scenes wanted ahead of an anticipated final.

Four people injured in Liverpool parade crash 'very, very ill,' mayor says

LIVERPOOL, England, May 27 (Reuters) - Four people were "very, very ill in hospital" after sustaining injuries when a car ploughed into a crowd of Liverpool fans during a Premier League title parade, the city's mayor said on Tuesday, adding he hoped they would "pull through."

British police believe the incident, in a packed Liverpool city centre on Monday, was isolated and not an act of terrorism, but have not said why or how a man was able to drive at crowds celebrating in the streets.
