It’s obviously been the wildest of title races, and Monday’s meeting between Manchester City and Leicester City only intensified how preposterously frantic it’s been. The Foxes were oh-so-close to doing Liverpool the ultimate favor, but the 2015-16 champions fell short due to Vincent Kompany’s 30-yard wonder strike in the 70th minute.
But Leicester had chances of its own. In the 63rd minute, Harry Maguire went on a sashaying run from inside his own area, up the left wing and into City’s third before picking out James Maddison. Maddison could’ve played through Marc Albrighton, but he instead elected to curve a frankly shit shot a few yards wide of the post.
However, Leicester’s biggest opportunity arrived in the 87th minute. Hamza Choudhury won the ball back with a fine tackle and then looked up to find Kelechi Iheanacho unmarked at the top of the box.
The 22-year-old is a product of Man City’s youth academy, and he appeared in 64 matches and scored 21 goals for the Citizens between 2015 and 2017, but he transferred to Leicester on Aug. 3, 2017, for nearly $33 million.
He’s been a massive flop at the King Power, scoring only four goals in 51 Premier League appearances (including only one from 30 games this campaign).
This is a glorious opportunity, but Iheanacho’s miss is so damn bad that it comes off looking like a half-chance. It really doesn’t look like the finishing of a professional footballer; it doesn’t look like the finishing of anyone that’s approached a football in their life.

Liverpool must take care of Wolves at Anfield on Sunday — no easy task given Wolves’ performances against the top six this season — and hope that 17th place Brighton (confirmed safe from relegation) pulls off the impossible at the Amex.
