Jürgen Klopp gives high praise to Christian Pulisic and their short time at Borussia Dortmund together

Christian Pulisic’s name came to Jürgen Klopp’s mind when reflecting on his career as a manager. During an interview with The Anfield Wrap the American was brought up by Klopp as a promising young player he worked with.

Klopp was asked about some of the rising stars for Liverpool and if he wishes he could get another 10 years with them to see their growth and development as players. The first example that came to his mind of a young player who blossomed was Pulisic.

Jürgen Klopp Pulisic quote

“When I left Dortmund Pulisic came through, so I had him as a 16-year-old in training and I thought ‘Oh my god! Wow,’” Klopp said. “So, then you see him later with Chelsea doing well and now AC Milan.”

Klopp and Pulisic’s paths just grazed each other as the American was shining for Borussia Dortmund’s U17 team during the manager’s final season with the club.

Pulisic would score 10 goals and add eight assists in 15 games with Dortmund’s youth teams and make his debut with the senior team the season after Klopp left to join Liverpool.

The two would meet again several times on opposite teams as Pulisic had a habit of causing problems for Klopp’s Liverpool.
