IKEA Trolls AS Roma Malcom Transfer Failure

The AS Roma Malcom transfer failed miserably as Barcelona FC hijacked the Brazilian for $48 million. Adding insult to injury, Swedish furniture company IKEA trolled Roma with a subtle kick to the Italian club’s fallen body.

Roma announced Swedish goalkeeper Robin Olsen’s signing via an IKEA-inspired tweet:

IKEA Italia, on the other hand, didn’t take long in twisting the knife labelled “Courtesy of Barcelona:”

The Swedish furniture behemoth went as far as captioning the tweet: “The goalkeeper is there. Come on, maybe they got the package.”

AS Roma later replied to IKEA Italia’s coldblooded joke with a fantasy purchase of Barcelona’s biggest star:

AS Roma was not happy with the way negotiations concluded with Malcom’s former club FC Girondins de Bordeaux, let alone Barcelona’s sweeping buyout of the 21-year-old winger. Speculations around Roma taking legal actions have risen.

AS Roma’s sporting director Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, better known as Monchi, implied a legal case against Bordeaux is a possibility, CNN reported.

“If someone wants to come to Roma that is great, but ultimately if they do not want to come to Rome then we do not want them,” Monchi said.

“Now, within the club, we are looking at our options and seeing if we have a legal case. It is true that nothing was signed, but there are many messages with the agents and their president that are at least worth being assessed.”
