The alarm clock sounds — it’s your favorite tune, “Macarena” by Los del Rio. You get dressed and admire your floppy hair and manicured beard. As you drive to the stadium, the anger in your belly slowly grows stronger.

The referee hears insults that would make your grandmother’s ears bleed, but he’s too afraid to give you a red card. Then, just because you’re bored with the physical assaults, you score a game-winning goal.

The Chelsea forward has started the new Premier League season with a vengeance. After a summer of rumors that linked him with a return to Atletico Madrid, Costa is once again showing why Chelsea fans sing his name and the rest of England despises him.
Costa’s antics through two games have been wild, even by “Diego Costa” standards. In the season opener, he picked up an early yellow card against West Ham United. But that didn’t slow Diego down. In fact, he spent the second half essentially moving by means of the slide tackle.
One particularly nasty challenge on West Ham goalkeeper Adrian should’ve certainly landed him his second yellow — it was late, high and reckless. Costa somehow avoided a red card and ultimately punished the Irons with an 89th minute winner.
In week two, he was at it again against Watford. Costa picked up a yellow card in the second half. Later, replays suggested he probably should have been sent off after a dramatic dive at the edge of the box that warranted a second yellow for simulation, but the cards stayed in the referee’s pocket.
How did Diego respond? By breaking Watford’s hopeful hearts with an 87th minute winner that would have had Elton John singing the blues.

Chelsea have a perfect six points from their first two matches, and as long as Diego Costa keeps banging in the goals, Antonio Conte won’t mind if he bangs a couple of heads in the process.
