Arsene Wenger is doing it again. He’s toying with Arsenal fans for his own sick and diabolical pleasure. He’s being Arsene Wenger. As a result of this next season, Arsenal will continue to be Arsenal. In other words, Arsenal will continue to be mediocre and underwhelming.
Unless Wenger decides to think outside the box and think like his old nemesis Sir Alex Ferguson and make a wise decision to snap up Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen. Would this be good for Arsenal? Of course it would, Chicharito brings guaranteed goals and, of course, he knows the Premier League.
The ex-Manchester United fan favorite was a regular goal scorer for Manchester United, with a career scoring rate of more than 35 percent in the Premier League.
He scored 36 seconds into basically the title decider between Man United and Chelsea in 2011, making him instrumental to one of Fergie’s final title hurrahs. It would only make sense for Wenger, a fan of Barcelona's free-flowing football to seek to emulate them, but this time properly by forming their exciting Frankenstein of MSN, dubbed SRC, Sanchez, Ramsey and Chicharito.
Behind the front three creating the attack would be Mesut Ozil, with possible partnerships being formed with the likes of new signing, Granit Xhaka, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Santi Cazorla or even, if fit for a string of games, Jack Wilshere, though, don’t get your hopes up.
Hernandez is coming off a dream season at Leverkusen scoring 17 goals in the Bundesliga, and would be a site for sore eyes for the ever-disappointed Gunners faithful. This move would and should ensure Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck’s exits from Arsenal. Though, they will not be missed.
Arsene Wenger should turn away from reported bids for Riyad Mahrez and and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette and focus on acquiring a consistent number nine. I mean, c’mon, there’s no hope for Theo Walcott anymore. Arsenal should move for the tried-and-tested Mexican and make a serious push for the title.
But, the sky is still blue, the grass is still green and Arsene Wenger is still Arsene Wenger. Don’t hold your breath Arsenal fans.
