Lopetegui rejects Bayern Munich, accepts West Ham job

According to David Ornstein, Julen Lopetegui has become the latest manager to reject the offer of coaching Bayern Munich.

Despite being contacted by the German club on Monday, the Spanish manager would have chosen to take an offer from West Ham to manage the team starting the 2024/25 season following the announced exit of current manager David Moyes.

Lopetegui is reportedly one of many coaches that have decided to reject the opportunity of managing the legendary Munich club, with managers such as Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen), Ralf Rangnick (Austria), Unai Emery (Aston Villa) and more declining the offer. Julian Nagelsmann — sacked by Bayern in the 2022/23 season — was also contacted.

Current manager Thomas Tuchel was confirmed to leave the German giants at the end of the current season back in February after taking on the reigns of the club at the end of last season following the sacking of previous manager Julian Nagelsmann.

Bayern Munich are close to finishing the season without winning a trophy for the first time in 12 years, with the club having the the sole opportunity at silverware through the UEFA Champions League.

They play Real Madrid in the second leg of the tournament's semifinals on Wednesday looking to revert a 2-2 draw in Munich last week.
