World Cup's Top-Scoring Boots
World Cup's Top-Scoring Boots
As teams across the globe gear up for World Cup 2014, the world's biggest brands are also preparing to gear up. Literally.
Adidas, Nike, Puma, Mizuno and others will jockey for visibility in Brazil this summer, as the event is anticipated to draw a viewership of 3.2 billion+ if the last World Cup is any indicator. And, let's face it, lots of money changes hands to determine which superstar players will wear which big name brands.
Nowhere is this more true than as it relates to football boots. While the official kits of each national team are determined for the team as a whole, most players make their own choices when it comes to boots - and, most of these choices are influenced by brand endorsements.
So, to level the playing field a bit and truly see which boots perform best, we have collected a list of the top-scoring boots from World Cup 2010, and provide below an overview of each boot's latest edition, what players will likely wear it this summer in Brazil, and where you can get yourself a pair. While this list might not be entirely bias-free (after all, it stands to reason that the top-scoring boots will be on the feet of the most heavily-endorsed players), it does provide a snapshot of what brands and models the players who score most on the world's biggest stage choose.
Oh, and if you're determined to have nothing but the most space-age boot, then one of these brand-new-in-2014 boots from Nike and adidas might just be for the likes of you (not to mention Luis Suarez).
