San Diego Wave FC can do no wrong. One month after the new NWSL club revealed its name, San Diego unveiled the club’s crest on Wednesday and hot damn is it a crest. I gave the name an 8/10 rating. This crest is a straight 10/10.

Any new club emerging in American soccer needs to start taking notes on what San Diego has done. The team has done nearly everything right. First, the team came out with an on-brand name for its city and didn’t just add an FC or SC to it. Next, the club pulled out the big guns and signed some of the biggest names in Alex Morgan, Abby Dahlkemper and Jodie Taylor.
The social team went all out on big cameos congratulating Alex Morgan on the move to San Diego.

Now, we have this beautiful crest that puts most in American soccer to shame. The reaction online is overwhelmingly positive for good reason.
Love the contrast of using the colorful against all the basic and boring black based logos we’re seeing these days (such as both teams that play in the Banc downtown LA). Nice work.

It’s got that southern Cal feel all over it! Nicely done

The last thing on San Diego Wave’s checklist is the kit. With the color palette chosen for the club's logo the sky (or ocean floor) is the limit. Don’t blow this now San Diego, everything is going perfect.
San Diego will begin its first season in the NWSL in Spring 2022.
