Player Looks To Adopt Stray Dog That Inspires Game-Winning Goal

Having been to South America several times, I can tell you first hand about the amount of stray dogs wandering around cities. Our last doggy pitch invasion hailed from Argentina, when an adorable little pup was just looking for a belly rub

This time we venture north to Brazil for the Copa Sul-Fronteira. It is a domestic cup in the Rio Grande Region which involves first, second and third tier teams.

Sao Paulo-RS was trailing 2-1 to Farroupilha when a dog ran out onto the pitch. Sao Paulo player Dudu then ran to the dog, picked him up and carried him off the field, just like Jonathan Zacaria in Argentina. But this time the dog didn’t embrace the carry. The little pooch bit Dudu twice right as he got to the sideline, which Dudu said acted as a good luck charm. Sao Paulo came back to win 3-2 with Dudu scoring the winning goal. The Sao Paulo-RS player is now searching for his good luck charm and, should he find him, he’ll name him after the one and only: Luis Suarez.

Brilliant.
