Injuries Starting To Add Up For Alex Morgan And The USWNT

We are only weeks away from the start of the Women's World Cup, and injuries are starting stack up again for the USWNT, with the team’s major concern being Alex Morgan.

A lot of the USWNT team members play professional soccer here in the States and like other athletes, they can run into problems with injuries.

Morgan, who plays for the Portland Thorns, said recently to the Oregonian that she will probably take a few days off to get over her nagging injuries.

"I just knocked my knee bone and it has been lingering for a little bit and I don't want it to linger any longer," Morgan said.

"Regardless of whether it's a World Cup year or not, I need to take this rest for a couple of days and we'll see how it feels in a couple of days. I don't think that I will be playing, but, again, I have to talk to the doctors and see how it feels."

Morgan has been fighting injuries on and off for the past few months.

Last year, Morgan had to miss most of the World Cup qualifying games for the U.S. because of an ankle injury.

But she isn't the only player fighting injuries, defender Ali Kreiger suffered a head injury over a week ago. Kreiger, who plays for the Washington Spirit, had a collision with another player.

At the time it looked very serious, but apparently Kreiger only suffer a mild concussion. Still, it has to be scary for head coach Jill Ellis to see her players go down like this, and not knowing how serious their injuries are.

For now, these injuries haven't been that serious, but all it takes is one to change the whole course of this World Cup for the US.
