Paul Pogba One Of Those Players That Will Just Hurt You, Says Wayne Rooney

The transfer saga involving Paul Pogba and Manchester United has become unbearable. It’s been going on for so long that Adidas has had time to spin it into a marketing campaign. It's been going on for so long that Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, is now the Ballon d'Or favorite.

The rumors have followed Pogba throughout his personal tour of the United States, each stop supposedly pointing towards a definitive transfer (he’s getting a medical in Los Angeles!) or a stay with Juventus (he’s mumbling ‘yes’ at some loaded fanboy questions!).

The only interesting piece of news on the Pogba front of late has been some quotes attributed to Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney. The man without a definitive position was asked by Sportsmail to recall what Pogba was like with United. Instead of waxing lyrical on his potential or proclaiming that he’s a Red Devil for life, Rooney essentially outed him as the awkward player on the training pitch that you’d avoid at all costs. What does he remember?

“The bruises. He was one of those players who, when you trained against him, somehow he would just hurt you. A knee in your side, bump into you, I don’t think he meant to do it, but it just happened.”

Basically, Pogba was like a newborn fawn at United’s Carrington Training Centre. He was all uncontrollable pointy bits, flailing around the field and leaving his mark wherever he went.

It’s understandable given that Pogba was just a teenager in a 6’3’’ body at the time. He was also probably desperately trying to impress Alex Ferguson, who still elected to field Rafael and Park Ji-sung in the midfield in a move that forced Pogba’s exit from Old Trafford.

Rooney believes Pogba has raised his game to another level with Juventus, and, based on Rooney’s memory, it was definitely necessary.

“I hope he is going to want to return to United and prove he’s a top-class player,” said Rooney. “If he is excited to play for us, we’ll be excited to have him back. I’m sure he’ll feel there is unfinished business, and it would be a very big statement by the club if they can make it happen.”

If Pogba does return, the transfer will smash the all-time record fee while instantly elevating Man United to EPL favorites. We just want it all to end.
