Hope Solo Speaks Out

It has been a wild 12 months for United States Women’s National Team goalkeeper Hope Solo.

Last June, Solo was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors of domestic violence in a case involving her half sister and her nephew. The charges were dismissed in January, but Solo was back in the tabloids a little less than a week after her case was dropped. This time, she had a run in with police while she was in the car with her under-the-influence husband, former Seattle Seahawks player Jerramy Stevens. U.S. Soccer suspended Solo for 30 days for showing poor judgement in entering the car and arguing with police.

Solo was reinstated by U.S. Soccer four days ago and, today, broke her silence during an interview with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts. During the interview, Solo fought back tears as she addressed both issues, saying the domestic violence case was a "scary night," where her 6’9", 280 pound nephew "struck her over the head, leaving her severely concussed."

Solo also said, "I want people to realize I am just human...I have a lot of room for improvement." Here is the interview in full:
