Fan Uses Football Manager To Predict The Next 1,000 Years Of The Premier League

Ever wondered what soccer will look like in the year 3000? Well, you're in luck, because one Reddit user decided to find out, using the popular computer game Football Manager.

The simulation shows a very cyclical pattern of dominance from such teams as Sheffield United, Burnley, Hull City, Southend, Stoke and Coventry – including one stretch in the early 2800s when Sheffield Utd. and Rotherham traded titles for 30 successive years, followed by 10 titles for Burnley. Surprising, we know.

The Reddit user, identified only as Lorf_Yimzo, produced a spreadsheet that tracked the top finishes in the simulator, and also World Cup finishes. There's an extended write-up here

It looks like the Premier League moves away from the big 4/5/6 model and toward more parity, which should give supporters of smaller clubs hope. Then again, it is just a video game.

According to the write-up, the sim took 58 days to complete fully. We're glad this gentleman (it was definitely a male person) has so much time on his hands to bring us stuff like this.
