Champions League Quarterfinals Goals - April 13, 2016

The final day of the Champions League quarterfinals kicked off today with Barcelona playing away at Atletico Madrid and Benfica hosting Bayern Munich. Barcelona were ahead 2-1 on aggregate heading into the match, but Madrid scored in the 36th minute to go ahead on aggregate due to the away goal tie-breaker.

Griezmann headed home a cross after Jordi Alba could not fully clear the ball. The Frenchman would add a penalty to take a 3-2 aggregate lead in the 88th minute after a handball by Andres Iniesta. The final score was 2-0. 

Bayern Munich held on to a 1-0 aggregate lead heading into the 2nd leg, but Benfica soon tied it up at one with a goal from Raul Jimenez in the 27th minute. Arturo Vidal equalized in the 38th minute to regain the aggregate lead. Thomas Muller added a second in the 58th. Talisca curled a beautiful freekick around keeper, Manuel Neuer to tie the match at two, however Bayern Munich held on to the 3-2 aggregate lead. 

The semifinal draw is Friday, April 15th. Manchester City and Real Madrid are the other two teams that moved on.
