The Creator Of Borat Tells Story About Meeting England’s Most Dangerous Hooligans

Sacha Baron Cohen is either one of the funniest men alive or the biggest jackass in the world depending on your perspective. The comedic genius that came up with characters such as Borat and Ali G has used those same characters to give unflinching, often cringeworthy social commentary...and possibly pink eye. This next video shows Baron Cohen’s flair for character creation, without ruffling too many feathers. In it, we hear the story of Sacha Baron Cohen visiting hooligans. Prepare yourself for some pretty hilarious hooligan impressions.

The guy can tell a story, there’s no denying that.

I have my doubts about the authenticity of it — after all, all good stories deserve a little embellishment — but knowing Baren Cohen’s reputation as a fearless comedian, it wouldn’t surprise me if he did infact hangout with thugs. At the very least I hope that the voices are accurate; the barbed wire stuff, not so much.

As for exactly which crew Baron Cohen was talking about (you know, the one that was supposedly "the most famous and most violent" in England in the 1980s) we can only guess. He mentions that it was in Northern England, which narrows the list down to anywhere from 5 to 25+ clubs depending on how large of an area we assume “Northern England” refers to.

The sad thing is that this video might be more entertaining than the movie it was supposed to be promoting. The Brothers Grimsby had one of the worst opening weekends in US history. Since 1982, only 35 movies have made less money during their opening weekends, and that’s not adjusted for inflation, so the actually number of tickets sold probably ranks much worse.

Let’s hope Baron Cohen’s career can handle a stinker.
