Just when we thought the United States women’s national team’s attack couldn’t get stronger, Emma Sears announced herself with a hat trick against New Zealand on Wednesday during the USA’s 6-0 friendly victory.

Sears, 24, had previously only scored one goal for the USWNT in 10 appearances. On Wednesday she took advantage of being named in head coach Emma Hayes’ starting XI and put on a show for the fans at CPKC Stadium in Kansas City.

NEW YORK — United States two-time World Cup winner Tobin Heath announced her retirement on Thursday, after years away from the sport due to injury, disappointing her legions of fans who hoped she might one day retake the field.

Famed for her cool demeanor and extraordinary intelligence on the pitch, Heath picked up two Olympic golds and won the NWSL championship twice with the Portland Thorns.

Rising United States women’s national team star Lily Yohannes is on the brink of making a big career move as she’s set to leave Ajax and join Lyon, per ESPN’s Jeff Kassouf.

Yohannes has been electric in her two seasons with Ajax’s senior team as the young midfielder impressed in the Eredivisie and earned call ups to the USWNT. Yohannes was eligible to represent the U.S. and Netherlands, but ultimately decided the Stars and Stripes looked best on her.

The United States women’s national team legend retired from international and club play last year but will receive a special tribute from San Diego Wave FC. An Alex Morgan jersey retirement is coming.

San Diego Wave will retire Morgan’s No. 13 jersey on Sept. 7 for their home game against the Houston Dash. The date is special as it will mark one year since Morgan’s final game of her career.

U.S. men’s national team legend Landon Donovan didn’t hold back, sharply criticizing high-profile American players who opted to sit out this summer’s 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, citing fatigue from their European club seasons.

During FOX Sports’ broadcast of the Nations League final between Portugal and Spain, Donovan expressed frustration with the likes of Christian Pulisic, Antonee Robinson, and other USMNT regulars left out of head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

USWNT head coach Emma Hayes will be pleased with her side as they controlled just about every aspect of the game. The big highlight was a brilliant Sam Coffey strike in the first half to double the USA’s lead.

In the 35th minute Catarina Macario received the ball in the box and laid it off to a wide open Coffey. The 26-year-old Portland Thorns midfielder made no mistake and ripped a shot into the net.
