Wayne Rooney Blasts Government For Treating Footballers ‘Like Guinea Pigs’

Wayne Rooney has criticized England's football authorities over how long they took to suspend matches in the country amid the coronavirus outbreak, saying it felt like players were being treated like "guinea pigs.”

The Premier League, English Football League, Women's Super League and men and women's FA Cup competitions were suspended on Friday following an emergency meeting sparked by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta testing positive for the virus a day earlier.

MLS Is Suspending Its Season Until Further Notice

With the World Health Organization declaring a pandemic and the United States confirming more than 1,000 cases of infection, Major League Soccer is set to announce a suspension of play until further notice to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

President Donald Trump has also announced that the U.S. is temporarily suspending most travel from Europe, including 26 different countries for 30 days, in an effort to combat the virus.

I’m Staying At Home: Atalanta Fans Celebrate Club’s Biggest Night With The American Experience

Over the past six months, Atalanta fans have been living the American soccer dream. The Bergamo-based club, despite tracing its existence back 112 years, has experienced a litany of firsts, bounced around different grounds and put its supporters through a sustained period of isolated loneliness. In the United States, we call this the New York City FC experience.

Dortmund Given Huge Advantage As PSG Match To Be Played Behind Closed Doors

After having its match on Saturday postponed due to the coronavirus, PSG will now play its Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Borussia Dortmund behind closed doors at the Parc des Princes.

With the virus rapidly spreading through France, the French Police announced Monday that Wednesday’s Champions League match will take place with no fans present. The police and PSG’s Twitter accounts broke the news to fans and will now work out terms and conditions for refunds.

Forget El Clásico, Everyone Was Watching MLS This Past Weekend

The 25th season of MLS began with a bang as both TV ratings and stadium attendance spiked for opening weekend. The highlight was all things Nashville, which saw a league-best attendance of 59,069 for the team’s inaugural game at Nissan Stadium.

Gluttonous MLS Stadium Food Is More Than Enough Reason To Attend A Match

One of the best parts about attending a sporting event in the U.S. is the food. Unlike Europe, where they serve shit no one actually likes (prove I’m wrong), American stadiums are a Mecca of gluttonous foods and drinks. MLS stadium food is no different.

The best way to learn a city is through its food. One of the best ways to learn a city’s food is through the sporting arenas where thousands of fans gather every week. Nowhere is this more evident than at MLS stadiums, where food ranges from two-foot-long nachos in Texas to roasted cauliflower nachos in California.

Inter Milan Director Says Coronavirus Could Bring An Early End To Serie A Season

The Serie A season runs the risk of not finishing if more matches are postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak, Inter Milan's chief executive Giuseppe Marotta said on Sunday. Inter's match at Juventus, which was to have been played later on Sunday, was one of five which were postponed by Serie A on Saturday.

Potential Serie A Title Decider Between Juventus-Inter To Be Played Behind Closed Doors

Italy's Serie A soccer league has confirmed that five matches will be played behind closed doors at the weekend because of the coronavirus outbreak in the country, including the clash between leaders Juventus and third-placed Inter Milan on Sunday.

The Slow, Depressing Death Of West Ham United

It took until the 67th minute, but it happened. Without fail, it always happens. With Liverpool leading West Ham 2-0 and supporters beginning their ascent up the stairs and out the door at London Stadium on Wednesday evening, the commentators on NBCSN began lamenting about how it all just doesn’t feel right.

Time To Run: There’s A Flaming Lion On The Roof Of This Stadium

The below video is footage of Estudiantes celebrating a return to Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi in La Plata, where the club played between 1907 and 2005 before a 14-year stay at Estadio Único.

I can’t confirm anything, but I’m pretty sure the construction workers — much like the dwarves of Moria — dug far too deep during their renovations of the stadium and unleashed a Balrog. I have no other explanation for this demonry.
