The victory in their league-phase finale secured Pep Guardiola's men a spot in the two-legged playoff knockout round. They finished 22nd in the table, three places above elimination. They face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the knockout stage.

Watch: Mauricio Pochettino misses U.S. goal while on a suspected emergency bathroom break

United States men’s national team head coach Mauricio Pochettino will be pleased with his team’s 3-0 victory vs. Costa Rica on Wednesday. He might however be disappointed with his digestive system as he missed the USA’s second goal while back in the locker room.

We can’t confirm what he was doing not on the sidelines. Judging from his jogging form going back to the locker room, we have a pretty solid guess as to what was happening.

In the 77th minute Poch was spotted on camera doing a hasty jog to the facilities.

Liverpool needed late heroics to defeat Brentford, Darwin Núñez answered the call with a brace

LONDON — Substitute Darwin Nunez's stoppage-time double gave Liverpool a 2-0 win at Brentford on Saturday, as the Premier League leaders left it late to record their first league win of 2025.

Brentford held firm and seemed on course for a deserved point until Nunez tapped in Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross from close range in the 91st minute to end the Bees' dogged resistance.

Amad Diallo scores hat trick in 12 minutes to rescue Man United from Southampton

MANCHESTER — Three late goals from Amad Diallo dragged a below-par Manchester United to an unlikely 3-1 comeback victory over bottom side Southampton in the Premier League on Thursday.

United will have fancied their chances of getting back to winning ways against struggling Saints but the hosts were second best from the off, deservedly falling behind to a Manuel Ugarte own goal just before halftime.
