18-year-old USWNT phenom Lily Yohannes set to join French giants Lyon

Rising United States women’s national team star Lily Yohannes is on the brink of making a big career move as she’s set to leave Ajax and join Lyon, per ESPN’s Jeff Kassouf.

Yohannes has been electric in her two seasons with Ajax’s senior team as the young midfielder impressed in the Eredivisie and earned call ups to the USWNT. Yohannes was eligible to represent the U.S. and Netherlands, but ultimately decided the Stars and Stripes looked best on her.

Olivier Giroud TERMINATES contract with LAFC, set to return to Ligue 1

Los Angeles FC striker Olivier Giroud agreed to terminate his MLS contract and will return home to France to join Lille this summer, ESPN reported Friday.

The 38-year-old former FIFA World Cup champion with France in 2018 is in his second season with LAFC and has six months remaining on his contract.

Real Madrid sign Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold early, he will compete in Club World Cup

Real Madrid have signed Trent Alexander-Arnold on a six-year deal, the LaLiga club said on Friday, paying Liverpool a fee to release the England defender from his contract a month early to allow him to join before the Club World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold, who joined Liverpool when he was six and made 354 appearances for the Premier League side since his senior debut in 2016, said earlier this month he would leave the club once his contract expired on June 30.

Luka Modric will leave Real Madrid after the Club World Cup, the Croatian midfielder said on Thursday as the club's most successful player and the 2018 Ballon d'Or winner prepares to end a trophy-laden stint in Spain.

Modric, who arrived at the club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, has played almost 600 games for Real and won nearly 30 trophies including a record six Champions League titles and four LaLiga trophies.
