FIFA President Gianni Infantino has hinted at Atlanta's potential as a host for the 2031 Women's World Cup as he brought the Club World Cup trophy to the city's Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday night.

Standing alongside Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Infantino praised the city's sporting credentials ahead of this summer's expanded Club World Cup tournament. "Atlanta has really become a soccer city," Infantino said.

OFFICIAL: The United States will host the 2031 Women’s World Cup

The United States will be the host nation for the 2031 Women's World Cup, FIFA president Gianni Infantino said on Thursday.

Infantino also announced that the 2035 global soccer competition will take place in the United Kingdom.

The U.S. submitted the only bid for 2031, while the joint bid from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland was the only "valid" bid for 2035, Infantino told the UEFA Congress in Belgrade, Serbia.

USWNT set to host Canada on July 2 in Washington D.C. in friendly match

The top-ranked United States women's national soccer team will face long-time rivals Canada in Washington, D.C. for the Continental Clasico on July 2.

The Olympic champions have played Canada more than any other opponents and beat them in a penalty shootout in both of their previous two meetings last year, the CONCACAF W Gold Cup semi-final and the SheBelieves Cup championship match.

The meeting, the 67th between the two teams, will close out a three-match window for the United States, who are also playing Ireland in a pair of friendlies in late June.

TST is an annual 7-vs-7 tournament in Cary, North Carolina, where the winning team takes home $1 million. Solo, 43, announced she’s entering a team in the women’s tournament where she could face former teammates like Ali Krieger, Heather O’Reilly and Carli Lloyd who play for the US Women squad.
