A great philosopher once uttered the phrase, “everybody makes mistakes, everybody has those days.” That quote was never more true for Burnley goalkeeper Arijanet Muric than it was during Saturday’s 1-1 draw vs. Brighton.
Burnley, who are in desperate need of points to avoid relegation, looked set to grab a much-needed victory after taking a 1-0 lead in the 74th minute at home against Brighton.
Five minutes later disaster struck with the worst fail we’ve seen all season. A casual pass back to goalkeeper Muric turned into nightmare fuel that will haunt the Kosovar shot stopper for years.
Muric own goal vs Brighton
That’s a mistake you only expect to see at the youth soccer level. Absolutely brutal.
Burnley would have to settle for a draw and miss out on two points that would have put them three points behind 18th Luton Town.
