The 2030 World Cup will be hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, with its opening matches taking place in Uruguay, where the first World Cup was held in 1930, as well as in Argentina and Paraguay.

April 7 (Reuters) - Brazil's soccer federation (CBF) has directed referees to punish players who stand on the ball with yellow cards, after a similar move by Dutch forward Memphis Depay in the Paulista Championship final sparked a brawl.

Three days after Dutch striker Depay's act, two players were given yellow cards for standing on the ball during a match between Bolivia and Brazil in the South American U17 Championship.

In the 74th minute Brazil’s Ruan Pablo had the ball near Bolivia’s corner with his side leading 2-0. Ruan Pablo displayed a little bit of “Jogo bonito” with a clever display of skill before passing the ball to a teammate.

The referee then blew the whistle and gave Ruan Pablo a yellow card for the move.

Dutch star Memphis Depay was the catalyst for a huge fight during Thursday’s Campeonato Paulista final after the Corinthians star stood on the ball in the final seconds of the game.

Corinthians led Palmeiras 1-0 on aggregate and needed to bleed a few more minutes off the clock to lift their first trophy in six years. In the 90th minute Depay had the ball in the corner and cheekily stood on top of it.

The Palmeiras players weren’t impressed with Depay’s showboating.

"For sure I'm going to (score a goal against Argentina). I'm going in with everything I've got..."
