Red Card

Brenden Aaronson gets sent off for time wasting… in the 21st minute

Brenden Aaronson was given a red card in bizarre fashion on Saturday during Union Berlin’s 4-1 victory vs. Darmstadt.

In his second Bundesliga start with Union Berlin he had a nightmare of a day. It started off rough as he received a yellow card in the first five minutes for a high boot.

This card was debatable for being so early in the game but not too controversial.

Aaronson’s second yellow card was truly strange as the referee sent him off in the 21st minute for kicking the ball away after play was stopped.

England's Lauren James issues apology to Nigeria’s Michelle Alozie's after stepping on her back

England's Lauren James issued an apology on Tuesday after she was sent off for a stamp on Nigeria player Michelle Alozie during their Women's World Cup last-16 game.

Good Lord! Marcelo is sent off in tears after accidentally destroying opponent's leg

Former Brazilian international and Real Madrid legend Marcelo was shown a straight red card and left the field in tears after accidentally inflicting a horrific injury on Argentine defender Luciano Sánchez during a Copa Libertadores match between Fluminense and Argentinos Juniors on Tuesday night.

The unfortunate incident occurred in the 55th minute when the left full-back stomped Sánchez with his support leg while trying to dribble past him.

No VAR needed: Player sent off after dropping his pants and urinating on the field

When you have to pee, you have to pee. That's probably what Argentino de Merlo midfielder Leonel Ovejero was thinking when struck by the natural urge, so he decided to drop his pants and proceeded to urinate on the field where the game between his team and Sacachispas was being played.

Little did he know the act would cost him a straight red card.

India manager shares highlight of himself getting sent off for protesting a throw-in

India, ranked 101st in the world, are flying high this calendar year with an unbeaten record of six wins and one draw, including an impressive 4-0 victory over Pakistan on Wednesday to begin the 2023 South Asian Football Federation Championship.

They managed that win despite having their manager, 55-year-old Croatian Igor Štimac, sent off before halftime.

Already leading 2-0 off a Sunil Chhetri brace (he's not finished yet, Messi and Ronaldo!), Štimac still lost his mind in the 45th minute when the referee awarded Pakistan a throw-in instead of giving possession to India.

Dominant 3-0 USMNT win vs. Mexico marred by cowardly fights and pathetic Mexico fans

The United States men’s national team dominated Mexico in the Concacaf Nations League semifinal with a 3-0 victory. What should have been a moment to celebrate was disgraced by fights between players and repeated homophobic chants from Mexican fans.

Before we get into the disgusting ending of the game, let’s take a quick look at the highlights.

Marcos Acuña's horrible tackle almost breaks Dani Ceballos in half

Marcos Acuña was sent off in Sevilla’s 2-1 LaLiga home defeat against Real Madrid this Saturday, and although not much was at stake, the Argentinian could’ve easily left Spaniard Dani Ceballos without playing for a long, long time.

Marcos Acuna’s horrible tackle against Dani Ceballos

In the 83rd minute of the match held at the Sánchez Pizjuán, with Sevilla trailing 2-1, a very late tackle made by Acuña against Ceballos sent the 2022 World Cup champion out for an early shower.

Patrick Bamford might have just doomed Leeds for relegation with penalty miss

LEEDS — Defender Rasmus Kristensen scored a late equalizer to give Leeds United a share of the points in a thrilling Premier League 2-2 draw with Newcastle United that saw Leeds miss one spot kick, concede two more and have a man sent off in stoppage time.

Leeds are still in the relegation zone but move up one spot to 18th on 31 points, one point behind Everton in 17th, while Newcastle remain third in the table on 66 points, three ahead of Manchester United and four ahead of Liverpool.
