While Mauricio Pochettino's appointment as the new head coach of the United States men's national team has yet to become official, The Athletic reported Saturday that the former English Premier League and Ligue 1 manager will be with the national team in some capacity in September.

Pochettino is expected to be with the USMNT for a friendly against Canada on Sept. 7 at Kansas City, Kan., although it still might not be from the sideline in a decision-maker capacity.

New NWSL CBA sees pay increased for players, college draft ended and more

The National Women's Soccer League and the NWSL Players Association have agreed to a collective bargaining agreement that will eliminate the draft, guarantee contracts and grant unrestricted free agency to all players.

The deal runs through the 2030 season and already has been ratified by the players. It replaces the previous CBA that was set to expire in 2026.

Cristiano Ronaldo looks to have a second career lined up after he retires from soccer. The Portuguese star launched a YouTube channel on Wednesday and has already gained over 4 million subscribers in a few hours.

The YouTube launch was clearly planned out as CR7 posted 18 videos on his account Wednesday. The videos range from game shows with his wife Georgina Rodríguez, rating his goals, free kick challenges and more.

Whoever is directing his videos clearly knows a thing or two about YouTube as the videos have high quality footage and editing.

Brazil legend Marta remains suspended from Olympic semifinal for red card in group stage

PARIS — Brazil veteran Marta will miss her team's semi-final against Spain in the Paris Olympics women's soccer tournament later on Tuesday after the Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed her two-match suspension.

The 38-year-old, who is her country's all-time leading scorer and will retire from international football this year, had been shown a straight red card in their group loss to Spain on July 31 after a dangerous challenge late in the first half.

San Diego Wave FC President Jill Ellis filed a defamation suit on Monday against a former team employee who accused Ellis on social media of creating a harsh work environment.

Brittany Alvarado, previously a video and creative manager for the Wave, wrote in a July 3 social media post that the treatment she and her co-workers endured under Ellis "has been nothing short of life-altering and devastating to our mental health."

Canada deducted 6 POINTS for drone scandal, head coach receives 1-year ban

PARIS — Canada were deducted six points from the Olympic women's soccer tournament and their head coach Bev Priestman banned for a year, global governing body FIFA said on Saturday, following a drone spying scandal that has tainted their gold medal defense.

Priestman, who has coached the team since 2020, and Canadian officials Joseph Lombardi and Jasmine Mander have been banned from any soccer-related activity for one year for "offensive behavior and violation of the principles of fair play", FIFA said.
