Trinity Rodman becomes youngest in NWSL history to reach 10 goals, 10 assists

Trinity Rodman recorded one goal and one assist to spark the Washington Spirit to a convincing 3-1 victory over the visiting San Diego Wave on Saturday afternoon.

Ashley Sanchez and Paige Metayer also scored goals for the Spirit (3-0-3, 12 points), who notched all their tallies in the second half.

Alex Morgan scored a late goal for San Diego (3-3-0, 9 points), which lost its second straight match.

We’ve seen how successful and interesting behind-the-scenes documentaries on professional soccer clubs have been. Amazon’s “All or Nothing” and Hulu’s “Welcome to Wrexham” come to mind as the latest success stories.

Now HBO is getting in on the action with their latest soccer docuseries “Angel City” which will follow the Los Angeles-based club’s inaugural season in the National Women’s Soccer League.

All signs pointed to a quick return to the NWSL after Julie Ertz made a surprising comeback with the USWNT, and on Monday we got confirmation of Angel City FC signing her to a one-year contract.

The eight best (or worst) names for the Bay Area’s new NWSL team coming in 2024

The Bay Area in California won the bid to become the home for the National Women’s Soccer League’s 14th team. The new club is backed by USWNT legends Brandi Chastain, Aly Wagner, Danielle Slaton and Leslie Osborne along with global investment firm Sixth Street.

It’s not clear yet where in the Bay Area the new club will be, but it will begin play in the 2024 season.

Angel City scores at 90+10' to beat Orlando in absurd NWSL match

Matchday 2 of the 2023 NWSL season came to a close Sunday with a crazy finish between the Orlando Pride and Angel City at Exploria Stadium.

The visitors took the lead in the 39th-minute from the penalty spot through Claire Emslie after Alyssa Thompson was fouled in the area.

Julie Ertz named to USWNT roster for first time since Tokyo Olympics

In an unexpected twist, Julie Ertz was named on the 26-player roster for the United States women’s national team’s pair of friendly games vs. Ireland in early April. If Ertz appears in either game, it will be her first appearance for club or country since the bronze medal match in the Tokyo Olympics on Aug. 5, 2021.

Ertz has been away from the game for over a year and a half due to injuries and the birth of her child, Madden, in August 2022.
