Alex Morgan left off USWNT Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup roster

Alex Morgan’s name was left off the United States women’s national team roster for a second time in a row on Wednesday as the star forward won’t compete at the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup.

Morgan also wasn’t included in the December roster that saw a litany of younger players play two friendlies against China. This time the roster has almost all the big names with Becky Sauerbrunn and Morgan being the major omissions.

Taking over Morgan’s role at the No. 9 will be either Sophia Smith or rising Chelsea star Mia Fishel.

Morgan posted clips of her golf swing to Instagram and Twitter and jokingly asked pro golfer Max Homa for his opinion. Even he had little to criticize about Morgan’s swing.

It’s time to have the talk USWNT fans — Alex Morgan needs to be benched

The United States women's national team drew Colombia 0-0 on Thursday in a lackluster friendly game that had one big theme. Alex Morgan couldn’t finish the USWNT’s best chances.

Morgan debuted for the USWNT on a snowy night in Sandy, Utah, back in 2010. The 34-year-old striker was on the field for the Stars and Stripes at the same venue again 13 years later.

The homecoming to Utah will be one to forget for Morgan who squandered three golden chances including a penalty kick.

NWSL in hot water after fans discover true price of the pathetic Shield trophy

Alex Morgan and San Diego Wave FC finished top of the NWSL table on Sunday in the club’s second-ever season. Morgan and the team were awarded the NWSL Shield trophy and to say the silverware was underwhelming is an understatement.

NWSL Shield trophy disappoints

After 22 games San Diego Wave triumphed after a hotly contested season with just six points separating first and seventh.

Finishing top of the table is a remarkable reward and deserves a trophy that reflects that. The NWSL Shield is reflective alright, but that’s because it’s a pie platter… not a shield.
