Can Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski catch the legendary Gerd Müller? How many goals will Borussia Dortmund starlet Erling Haaland finish with? Some of the best goal scorers in the world ply their trade in Germany and the Bundesliga top scorers 2020-2021 list has never been more intriguing.

There are few scoring titles as prestigious as the Torjägerkanone, given to the Bundesliga top scorer each season. Some of soccer’s most legendary strikers have won it, including Gerd Müller, Jupp Heynckes, Klaus Fischer, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Jürgen Klinsmann, Miroslav Klose, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the aforementioned Robert Lewandowski.

Gerd Müller famously scored a record 365 goals in the Bundesliga, including a seemingly unbeatable 40 in 1971-72. Der Bomber once scored 10 goals at a single World Cup and finished with 68 goals in just 62 international appearances. He later played in the North American Soccer League with similarly prolific numbers, cementing his status as an all-time great.

But Müller’s records are under threat by Lewandowski, meaning there has never been a better time to check out the list of top Bundesliga scorers. Lewandowski, the best player on the best team in 2020, has been tearing up the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich. If anyone can catch Müller’s marks of 365 career Bundesliga goals and 40 in a season, it’s the Polish striker.

Beyond Lewandowksi, there is a slew of young, up-and-coming talent in Germany like Erling Haaland and Silas Wamangituka, plus some cagey veterans climbing the scoring ranks like Andrej Kramarić and Wout Weghorst.

At 20 years old, Haaland has reached 100 career goals faster than Kylian Mbappé and Cristiano Ronaldo. Whether Haaland is the future Bundesliga top scorer or if he moves on to a new league in the future, the Norwegian striker is impossible to ignore.

Finally, the Bundesliga top scorers list wouldn’t be complete without an American watch. Whether it’s Josh Sargent at Werder Bremen, Matthew Hoppe at Schalke or Gio Reyna at Borussia Dortmund, there are plenty of American soccer players to keep an eye on in Germany.
