Over 1 million tickets sold during the first ticketing window for the 2026 World Cup, announced FIFA on Thursday. Millions of fans who applied for tickets during the Visa Presale Draw weren’t selected and will have to try again for the next window.
So, when might that be?
Next chance to buy World Cup tickets
The “Early Ticket Draw” will be the next opportunity for fans to acquire the highly sought after World Cup tickets. Similar to the Visa Presale, fans will again need to apply for tickets and then wait to see if they win a lottery to get access to buying tickets.
If you haven't done so already, a FIFA ID needs to be created in order to apply for World Cup tickets.
Early Ticket Draw details
- Application dates: Oct. 27-31
- Tickets available to buy (if selected): Mid-November
- Kinds of tickets: Venue and team-specific tickets will be available
A massive turnout will be expected again for the second window of World Cup tickets. FIFA reported that the Visa Presale saw fans from 212 countries and territories get their hands on tickets for the big event next summer.
American soccer fans had the biggest buyer turnout, which is expected from host nations. The countries with the highest turnout of buyers for the first window (after the U.S.) were Canada, Mexico, England, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Colombia, Argentina and France.
With a number of countries qualifying for the 2026 World Cup this month, it’s likely that supporters from those qualified nations will be vying for tickets in the next window.
Third World Cup ticket phase
If you once again come away empty handed from the Early Ticket Draw, another window will happen shortly after.
The 2026 World Cup draw will take place on Dec. 5 and will reveal the schedules and venues for all 48 teams. The third ticketing window will open after the draw.
