I’ve had enough — Geico’s 'timeout for nacho-tots' is the worst soccer commercial I’ve ever seen

After watching the torturous 0-0 draw between England and Slovenia I’ve come away with one conclusion: the Geico soccer commercial is going to drive me insane.

We’re a week and-a-half into the Euros and during every game I’m forced to watch the most annoying Geico soccer commercial. If I have to hear, “timeout for nacho-tots” one more time there will be a god damn hole in my wall.

It seems Geico know how utterly dogshit their commercial is as it’s not available anywhere on the internet.

The premise follows two guys at a soccer game with walkie talkies they use to speak to the referee to give them favorable calls. The idea makes sense but the execution sucks as it feels like this commercial was written by people who have never watched a game before.

“Ref, that’s a PK,” the guy says with the ball at MIDFIELD.

“Ref, that’s a negative on the PK. Let’s do a red card for 11,” replies Roberto to the referee. “And halftime now please, I need a potty break!”

Meanwhile the game is in the 4th minute. Just such a bad commercial that is somehow supposed to sell me roadside assistance.

The moment this commercial starts on the TV my fight or flight responses kick in, and I want to throw a chair through my screen. It seems fans online agree.

It’s truly a shame because Geico have historically had top tier ads relating to soccer. The one from 2018 featuring a player’s endless knee slide is comedy gold.

Do better Geico. We know you have it in you. We don’t want a timeout for your stupid nacho tots.
