If you would have told us 10 years ago that New England Patriots’ legendary head coach Bill Belichick would be discussing relegation and Birmingham City, we would’ve called you crazy.
Fast forward to present day and that’s exactly where we are. During Netflix’s “The Roast of Tom Brady”, soon-to-be League One club Birmingham City were one of the many victims of the roasting spree.
When Belichick had his turn on the microphone he went after Brady and the club he became a minority owner for in August, Birmingham.

We’ll give Belichick a pass for going full Ted Lasso and referring to relegation as “regulation.”
What he said about Birmingham was true though… they suck.
At one point this season they were sixth in the second tier EFL Championship, but then Wayne Rooney was appointed manager in October, and it all went downhill.
Rooney won just two of his 15 games in charge before being sacked in January. The damage was too great however with Birmingham getting sent to the third tier of England for the first time since 1995.
They finished one point away from safety, winning 1-0 on the final day to Norwich City but falling just short.
Relegation had been a looming threat for the past seven years as the club finished no higher than 17th in the past eight seasons.
The “Brady effect” proved to have just as much influence as Rooney did and all he could supply his club with at the end of the season was a thank you tweet to the fans.
