Ezequiel Barco, the 18-year-old Argentinian youth international who smashed the MLS transfer record back in January when Atlanta United paid $15 million for his services, scored his first goal for Atlanta Wednesday night in a friendly against Minnesota United.
Playing at the Carolina Challenge Cup preseason tournament in Charleston, Barco’s first goal for the club salvaged a 1-1 draw in the 85th minute for Tata Martino’s boys.
A 52nd minute penalty from Kevin Molino (who registered two goals and an assist in two matches vs. ATL last season) had given Minnesota the lead, but Barco’s slaloming run around two defenders and unstoppable right-footed drive inside the far post brought the all-time series between these 2017 MLS expansion clubs to 1-1-1.
Here's what Barco had to say after his first goal for the club.
"It serves to help the team and to keep gaining more confidence"

If Barco continues to integrate himself alongside Josef Martinez, Miguel Almiron, Darlington Nagbe and Tito Villalba, this’ll be the greatest attack in MLS history.
