After dominating the regular season in this fall's Apertura, all Monterrey needed to do was win at home in the final against Tigres to be crowned Liga MX champs. They lost.
With the Clausura starting this weekend, Monterrey will be under a lot of pressure to redeem themselves. That said, nothing motivates quite like losing.
Monterrey will be looking to USA youth international Jonathan Gonzalez, an 18-year-old midfielder who was named to the Apertura best XI and for some reason has not been cap-tied by the United States yet, to continue his meteoric rise.
But we'll find that out soon enough. There will be soccer soon.
