Why Hope Solo Will Make Or Break World Cup 2015 For USA

Hope is back for the Americans literally and figuratively with the reinstatement of Hope Solo to the U.S. Women's National Team.

Solo and her husband were arrested for DUI a few months ago, which lead to Solo being suspended from the team for 30 days by head coach Jill Ellis.

This incident comes weeks after an incident last year involving her sister, her nephew, and a domestic violence dispute. Even though charges were dismissed, the L.A. Times reported that prosecutors are thinking about re-filing the charges against her.

But for now, as of last week, the troubled star has been reinstated just in time for the Algarve Cup tournament in Portugal. In her absence the Americans were 1-1; losing to France 2-0 and beating England 1-0.

Why is getting Solo back important? Because she is a pure shot stopper. In the 2007 World Cup, Solo gave up only two goals and had three consecutive shutouts of Sweden, Nigeria and England.

In the 2011 World Cup, it was her defense in regulation and in overtime that lead the U.S. to a victory over France, which helped them get to the World Cup finals against Japan.

She also helped the USWNT win gold in the 2008 Olympics against Brazil, winning 1-0.

Solo has had her share of troubles, but these are all reasons why she is one of the best keepers in the world, and why her return could be such a game changer.

In her recent interview with Good Morning America's Robin Roberts, Solo sounded remorseful about the recent events in her life. Solo's teammates and her coach better hope she has moved past them, because they are going to need her if they expect to have any chance of taking home the World Cup.
