Team Uses Cannabis Lamps To Save Their Home Pitch

At The18 World Headquarters here in Colorado, we live in one of the few places in the world where marijuana is legalized. And, no, we do not roll one up every day at a certain time in the afternoon. We are professionals and, besides, we have other ways of getting our creative juices flowing.

That said, we do see that the benefits of legalized marijuana range from increased tax revenues to increased White Castle orders. On the flip side, it looks like our brothers from another national mother over in the U.K. have found that the criminalization of marijuana can have benefits as well.

Rochdale AFC, of League One, have had a number of cannabis lamps donated to their club for groundskeeping purposes. The lamps were confiscated in drug raids, and instead of letting them gather dust in some evidence locker, the local police department decided to donate them.

Initially used in grow operations, these lamps were used to accelerate the maturing of illegal marijuana plants indoors. Now, like some radiant villain-turned-superhero, they are rejuvenating the home pitch of Rochdale AFC, and the team couldn’t be more excited.

Oli Makin, the 24 year old head groundsman, had this to say, ”I can’t thank the police enough…It has saved the club a fortune and the players will be happy, especially the goalkeeper.”

So, what exactly is this staggering sum of money that the club is saving by using ex-con lights? A cool £30,000. An operating cost for the local grow operation, an insurmountable sum for Rochdale AFC.

C’est la vie.
