San Jose To Host The 2016 MLS All-Star Game

San Jose’s Avaya Stadium will host the 2016 MLS All-Star Game, the MLS announced Thursday.

“When we began the league, San Jose was one of our key markets,” said MLS President Mark Abbott at a press conference announcing the site of the All-Star Game.

San Jose hosted the first game in MLS history in 1996, between the San Jose Clash and D.C. United. The All-Star Game was last played there in 2001.

“When it comes to soccer in the United States, San Jose has been quite the host over the years,” said Earthquakes sideline reporter Kate Scott.

“Obviously this is a super exciting day for San Jose, for the Earthquakes,” said Earthquakes President Dave Kaval.
