The Premier League Goal Of The Year Was Scored This Weekend

Kolo Toure scored the goal of the year in the Premier League. We couldn't believe it either, which is precisely why it's the goal of the year.

Now, remember that we said it's the "goal of the year" not the "best goal of the year." By "goal of the year," we mean the goal that most exemplifies the year in the Premier League. You can look at it a number of ways.

It exemplifies Chelsea's futile title defense because now Kolo has more Premier League goals than Eden Hazard. It exemplifies Aston Villa's near-certain relegation campaign because they let the likes of Kolo Toure score on them.

Above all, this has been the year of the unexpected in England. Leicester City were picked by many for relegation, and they sit first in the table, followed by Tottenham Hotspur in second. Nothing makes sense about this season, just like nothing makes sense about Kolo Toure scoring a goal i a Premier League soccer game.

And just like we're super excited about the chaos in the EPL (from an objective view, this has been the most fun season in recent memory), Kolo was super excited about his goal. After the goal, his celebration tied the whole thing together.

And then the Internet did Internet things.

This was great, sure, but we still wish Kolo's first Liverpool had been this outrageous bicycle-kick try in the fall in the Europa League.

I mean, can you imagine?

The internet, and also Anfield, would have turned into a much larger version of this video:

Or perhaps this one:

It's Kolo's world, we're all just living in it.
