One Of These Goalkeepers Had The Best Day Ever. The Other Had The Worst

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. In the opening line of "A Tale of Two Cities," Charles Dickens is referring to the French Revolution, but he could have easlity been talking about this game between Stevenage FC and Wycombe Wanderers in the English fourth division. Heck, maybe that is what he was talking about, and he had powers of prophecy that we didnt know about.

It was a the best of times for Jesse Joronen. Stevenage's Finnish keeper (on loan from Fulham) did the whole "sweeper-keeper" thing on a Wycombe long ball, clearing it to the other side of the field.

It was the worst of times for Matt Ingram. Wycombe's keeper watched Joronen's clearance bounce in front of him, then over his head, then it was too late. the ball bounced into the net with Ingram on the ground watching it go in, having dived in vain for a ball destined to go in.

Oh, and Joronen's goal turned out to be decisive, with Stevenage winning the game 2-1, a game that Jesse Joronen and Matt Ingram will remember for very different reasons.
